Glendalough Double Barrel, is a Irish Single Grain produced for the Glendalough Distillery located in Wicklow. The double barrel whisky is a step in a different direction, its made up for corn and malted barley, matred for just over 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels with 6 months in ex-oloroso sherry casks. The aromas from the Glendalough Double Barrel Single Grain, are that of figs, dates and apricot. There are also some sweet vanilla and toffee aromas. The palate is that of spice, red berries and sweet caramel. There are also some cinnamon and coffee flavours mixed in. The finish is that of hot spice and vanilla.
Teeling Single Grain, is a whiskey made up of approx 96% Corn(maize) & a touch of Malted Barley, distilled in Column stills, and then fully matured for approx 7 years in ex-Cabernet Sauvignon Barrels from California. Interestingly, these barrels were made from French oak.True to it's nature, the nose of this Single Grain whiskey is quite soft with initial sweetness and soft touches of spice. The palate has a mix of vanilla & honey sweetness, touches of fruit. Overall a very soft easy drinking whiskey.
Kilbeggan Single Grain Irish Whiskey, is a Single Grain Irish Whiskey produced by the Kilbeggan Whiskey Distillery locate in Westmeath. The mash bill consists of 94% corn and 6% malted barley matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in various fortified wine casks. The nose of the Kilbeggan Single Grain Irish Whiskey, is that of some coconut and vanilla aromas. There are also notes of tropical fruit and summer red berries. The palate has flavours of hazelnut and light spice. Undertones of oak tannis and biscuit flavours. The finish is fruity, such as glazed cherries and lingering spice.
Hyde 1916, is a Single Grain Irish Whiskey produced for the Hiberinan Distillers, located in West Cork, the south of Ireland. The Hyde family are orinally from the Bandon area of West Cork.This particular botting is a special celebratory bottle released on the anniversary year of the 1916 rising, and is matured in ex-bourbon barrels for 6 years.The nose of the Hyde 1916, is that of cinnamon and clove aromas with some sweet caramel and spice aromas. The palate is that of spices with some black pepper and vanilla flavours. There is also some flavours of toasted oak, that come from the bourbon barrels. The finish is that of oak, tabacco and leather flavours that are smooth and soft.
Method & Madness Single Grain, is a Single Grain Whiskey from the Midleton Distillery in Cork. The whiskey has first been matured in ex-ourbon barrels and then for 12 months finished in virgin Spanish oak casks from Galicia. On the nose Method & Madness Single Grain, has a sweet vanilla aroma which draws you into the whiskey and makes you want the whole bottle! (nearly). There are also hints of spice and nutmeg. The palate is that of baking spices, such as cinnamon and clove with flavours of tropical fruit which hit the back of your mouth. The finish is long and well-balanced with a lovely creamy smooth finish.
Hyde 1860, is a Single Grain Irish Whiskey produced for the Hibernia Distillers in the south of Ireland.They have dedicated the whiskey to Douglas Hyde, the first President of the Republic of Ireland in 1922. Hyde was born in 1860 which is why the whiskey has the date imprinted on the bottle. This particular bottling is a 6 year old grain whiskey that have been matured in ex-bourbon barrels and finished of in ex-burgundy casks. It is a limited whiskey to only 5,000 bottles.The nose of the Hyde 1860, is that of forest fruit, such as blackberries, strawberries and blueberry aromas. There are also undertones of vanilla and caramel with some hints of nuts and toffee. The palate is that of hazelnuts, vanilla nad oaky flavours. The finish is full of dark fruit flavours with some flavours of nutmeg and dark fruits.
