Big Smoke 40, is a Islay Blended Malt which is produced by the Duncan Taylor Company. The number 40 represents the alcoholic strength of the whisky; 40% ABV. This is a younger, more intensely smoky version of Auld Reekie.The nose of the Big Smoke 40 Islay Blended Malt, is that of wood smoke, wet forestry and some nutty aromas. There are also some vanilla and salty notes evident. The palate is the of strong charcoal and caramel flavours. There are notes of smoked bacon and some spice notes. The finish is that of wood ash and vanilla.
Blackbull 12yr Old Blended Whisky, is a Blended Scottish Whisky produced by Ducan Taylor. The Black Bull 12 Year Old is made using Highland and Speyside malt whiskies matured in refill ex-sherry European Oak butts and refill ex-bourbon American oak hogsheads. The ratio is 50% malt and 50% grain whisky. The nose of the Blackbull 12yr Old Blended Whisky, is that of some very sweet notes and a little bit of a peat aroma with some sherry notes. There are also notes of some pear and sweet berry aromas. The palate is creamy and buttery flavours. Notes of toffe and fruit flavours are also present. Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old is a Islay Single Malt Whisky produced in the Bunnahabhain Distillery. The distillery was founded in 1881 near Port Askaig. Bunnahabhain takes a different approach from its many counterparts on Islay considering itself "the gentle taste of Islay". The 12 year old is made with un-chill filtered malts bottled at 46.3% ABV.The nose of the Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old has notes of tropical fruits along with some earthy, smoked oak aromas. There are also notes of citrus and sea air. The palate is that of creamy, malty, earthy flavours. It is gentle with some swings of spice, clove and a hint of cinnamon. Bowmore 25 year old Single Malt is a great representation of what you should expect from the very best whiskies from Islay. Even though this whisky has been maturing in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks for at least 25 years, the Bowmore distillate still shines through in all of it's floral glory, intertwined with the cask influence, you get one of the finest whisky's on Islay.The nose and palate of this whisky coincide with each other. Talisker 25 Year Old Single Malt, is a Single Malt from the Talisker Distillery on the Isle Of Skye in Scotland. The 2015 release consists of only 9882 bottles drawn from re-fill casks. On the nose the Talisker 25 Year Old, has an abundance of citrus aromas withhints of vanilla. There are more oaky aromas than expected, as well as a deep earthy peat that comes out when a few drops of water is added. The palate has flavours of pepper, with sweetness that has a kick of peat behind it. It leaves some impact. The finish is light in smoke and leaves a lovely black peppery flavour.
This particular Laphroaig 25 year old release won Best Cask Strength Single Malt at the IWSC Awards in 2011. The release at Cask strength made a considerable difference to this whisky and it has now solidified it's place as one of the best Peated Single Malts ever released.The palate of this whisky is one of the most complex in Islay Malts. There are notes of signature Laphroaig coal dust, smoke, seaweed, and woodsmoke which you might expect from older Laphroaigs. But, they are followed by big shared sweetness, almost jammy fruits, balanced by the spice, and saltiness of it's backbone. An incredible whisky!
