There is a main difference between the standard and premium whiskeys which is a "double mellowing" as it is filtered through charcoal both before being filled and before being bottled. Eddu is a unique whiskey from the Distillerie Des Menhirs in Brittany, France. Originally known for producing apple based spirits this distillery made the decision to produce whiskey in 1998. The name Eddu comes from the breton language and means buckwheat which they use in the making of their whiskies. This particular release contains Buckwheat, barley and corn. The nose on this whiskey carries apple, apricot, wheat & some vanilla sweetness. It represents the palate very well with similar flavours coming through along with some cinnamon spice.

Kavalan Classic, is a Single Malt from a Taiwanese Whsieky Distillery, owned by the King Car Group located at Yuanshan Township, Yilan County, Taiwan. The distillery and the whisky is named after the indigenous Kavalan people who originally inhabited Yilan County. The distillery was completed in 2005 and produced their first spirit in 2006, being bottled in 2008. The whisky has been aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherrt casks which are mostly refill.On the nose the Kavalan Classic, has sweet herb aromas with tones og green tea and sweet boiled sweets. There are also aromas of vanilla and caramel. The palate is that of nuts and dark fruit flavours that seem to come from the sherry casks. The finish is spicey and long with a slight smoky quality.

The whiskey itself is a 6 year old with a mashbill of at least 51% rye and bottled at 45% abv. On the nose the Sazerac Straight Rye Whisky, has aromas of lemon zest and citrus. There are also plenty of rye and black pepper aromas. The palate has a classic rye whiskey flavouring, with bursts of black pepper and cinnamon at the forefront with sweet citrus and caramel towards the rear. The finish is quick, crisp and dry with some light oak and char flavours.
