Monkey Shoulder, is a Blended Malt Scottish Whisky, from three different distilleries, Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie. The whisky is owned by William Grant & Sons.The whisky has been labelled "Batch 27" which refers to the original experimental batching of 27 casks. Each malt whisky are fromfirst-fill ex-bourbon casks and are assumed to be yung whiskies.The term Monkey Shhoulder comes from the nickname given to the shoulder injury experienced by maltsters after long hours of manually turning malt on a malting floor.The nose of Mokey Shoulder, is crisp, with malty aromas and hints of lemon. There are also aromas of toasted oak and vanilla. The palate has a intially wave of lemon peel and caramel flavours. There is a strong herbal like flavour and some vanilla at the finish. The finish also has some strong tannins and dry oaky flavours.
