Akashi White Oak Japanese Blended Whisky, is a Blended Japanese Whisky produced at the White Oak Distillery located in the city of Akashi. The distillery was founded in 1888 and was originally a sake producer and was the first distillery in Japan to obtain a whisky license in 1919. On the nose the Akashi White Oak Japanese Blended Whisky, has a strong vanilla, caramel aromas. There is also some spice and herbal aromas. The palate has hints of caramel flavours, with a mild fruit flavour, such as banana and green apples. The finish has flavours of lemon peel and a hint of spice and malt.
Akashi Meisei Japanese Blended Whisky, is a Blended Japanese Whisky produced at the White Oak Distillery located in the city of Akashi. The distillery received its distillery license in 1919 but only began producing whisky in 1984. The whisky is matured in American oak barrels and bottled at 45% abv. The meaning of Meisei translates roughly as celebrity in Japanese.
Togouchi Premium Blended Japanese Whiskey, is the new whiskey from Chugoku Jozo blended whisky. This whisky is made from scotch malt whisky and Canadian grain whisky. It has been matured and vetted in Japan. It is composed of whisky aged 8 years that have been matured in oak barrels in a tunnel dug in the heart of the mountains in the region of Nishi Chugoku Sanchi.The whisky itself is delicate with hints of red fruits, citrus, coconut, banana, apple and peach.
Hakushu Distillers Reserve, is a Japanese Single Malt Whisky produced in the Hakushu Distillery in Japan. It is owned by the Suntory group. The distillery was established in 1973 in the forest on the slopes of Mount Kaikoma, exactly 50 years after they opened their pioneering first distillery at Yamazaki.The whisky has been constructed to showcase the qualities and characteristics of Hakushu's young peated single malts. These have been blended with older heavily peated malt and aged American oak matured whisky.The nose of the Hakushu Distillers Reserve, is that of fresh green pears, vanilla and lemon zest. There are also undertones of fresh mowned grass and coconut, along with icing sugar, mint and peach. The palate is that of lemon zest, vanilla, honey and some herbal notes. There are also hints of marshmallow, elderflower and ginger. The finish is long and delicate. It is the soft peat smoke are the first to fade, followed by the zesty lemon notes.
Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Japanese Whisky, is a Single Malt Japanese Whisky produced at the Yoichi Distillery owned by the drinks giant Nikka. Yoichi is one of two single maltdistilleries owned by Nikka. It is a peated whisky that originates from the traditional direct caol-fired distillation as well as a briny hint delivered by the sea breeze during the aging process.The nose of the Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Japanese Whisky, has aromas of fresh fruit, such as apples, oranges and lemons. There are light smoke and peat notes that seems to be surrounded with fresh mint and salt aromas. The palate has plenty of fruit flavours balanced with some light spice notes. There are some light caramel and chocolate notes. The finish is fruity, with notes of mint and eucalyptus freshness.
Miyagikyo Single Malt Japanese Whiskey, is a Single Malt from the Nikka Whiskey Distilling Company. This whisky comes from the Miyagikyo Distillery, Nikka's second distillery built in 1969. The whiskey is produced using less peaty malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, with a strong Sherry cask influence.The nose of the Miyagikyo Single Malt, is that of vanilla with some juicy, fruity aromas. There are lots of red apples and rhubarb tart aromas. The palate is buttery and creamy, with some bitterness such as grapefruit or ginger flavours. There are also hints of spice and dark chocolate. The finish is that of mint and tabocco, that lasts long with a medium amount of heat.
